Easily share and edit task locations, plus the undo button you’ve been asking for.

Undo changes to the task description

Oops, instead of copying the text in the task description of the task on the task board, you’ve pasted whatever was on your clipboard, and now the description is gone forever. Not any more. Simply click the Undo button to return to the text that was previously there.

Easily share Tasks with others outside of BugHerd

You can now details of a task with others who don't have access to your task board. The new share feature copies the URL, plus project information and task details, so you can share it on slack, via email or whatever other tools you’d like.

The person you send it to just needs to click on the location pin to see the task details information, making it easier to share task information with others.

Edit Location details

Edit the Location URL in the task details manually, so now if the name of the page you’re working on changes, you won't lose all the BugHerd pins associated with that page. You can update the Location by clicking the edit icon next to the location. Only members, managers or admins can edit the location.

Improved project URL detection

If you host all your projects on the same domain, you'll want to read this, promise. :)

We've just released an update to our browser extension that greatly improves the way we match your BugHerd Projects to the URL you're viewing.

Why is that interesting?

Well, for some of you who host lots of different sites on the same domain, you might have noticed that sometimes your tasks ended up in the wrong project. Super confusing and very frustrating when it happened, we know.

What do we mean by multiple sites on the same domain?

For agencies, you might host client sites on the same staging server, something like the example below.

  • staging.youragency.com/client1-website/
  • staging.youragency.com/client2-website/
  • etc.

For e-commerce stores, maybe you have different sites for different countries, for example.

  • etc.

Or for online course providers, all your courses probably live on the same domain, something like this.

  • www.mystude.com/design/introduction-to-photoshop

Any of these examples used to be problematic for the BugHerd browser extension, but not anymore.

What do I need to do? Nothing, your browser extension should update automatically.

Of course, if you have any questions, or run into any problems. Please feel free to get in-touch in the comments below.

Customise your Project workflow

We’re excited to announce you can now add, edit, reorder and delete columns on your Project board(s)!

This is by far the most requested improvement we’ve received, so we’re very happy to be able to deliver this to all of you who have waited so patiently.

We are progressively rolling out this feature, so if you can't see it yet, just email us on support@bugherd.com and we'll hook you up.

How it works:

It’s pretty simple really…

  • Add columns by clicking on the “+” icon to the right of the column headings or via the “…” menu.
  • Edit a column name by clicking on it.
  • Drag & drop to re-order columns.
  • Delete a column, from the “…” menu.

So give it a try and let us know what you think.

Some important things to note:

  • Only Members & Managers can modify a project’s columns.
  • If you use Zapier to send/receive data to/from other tools you use, keep in mind that if you change the name of your columns, you might need to update your Zaps too.
  • Similarly, if you use our API or Webhooks, there are some very small changes you need to make to your integration before April 30th. For more information, check out our API docs here.

Thanks again for your feedback, we really appreciate it and of course if you have any questions, let us know on support@bugherd.com.

Microsoft Edge extension now available!

Great news for all you Microsoft fans out there. The BugHerd Browser Extension is now available for Microsoft Edge! Check it out in the Microsoft Edge Addons store.

Same great features, different browser.

We hope this will make using BugHerd even easier for you and your clients. As always, if you’ve got any feedback please do let us know via the comment box below or contacting support@bugherd.com.

Please note: you’ll need Microsoft Edge version 79 or newer, available here.

PS. We know a Safari browser extension is really needed too, it’s just a little more tricky to deliver. Stick with us though, it will come. Promise. :)

Important changes to the BugHerd API

As you may know, we’ll soon be releasing our custom columns feature which will bring the ability to customise the columns that appear on your project Kanban board. Unfortunately, delivering this feature will involve a breaking change to our API v2.

If you are a user of our API & Webhooks, please contact us via commenting below so that we can delay enabling Custom Columns on your account until you’re ready.

Please note: we need to upgrade all accounts, by 30th April. We understand that this is an inconvenience so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have questions. We’re here to help in any way we can.

So what’s changed?

  • The status field is now the primary way to identify the status of a Task (e.g. which column the task is in). This will now be a case insensitive string, representing the name of the status that the Task is in.
  • The status_id field on a task has been deprecated. It’s value now indicates the Global ID of the column a task is in, with a few special exceptions. A value of null still indicates a task is in 'Feedback' and a value of 5 still indicates a task is 'Closed/Archived'.
  • Once custom columns are enabled on your account, if a column name is changed on a project, this will be reflected in the status that is returned from the API. Note, any member on a project can modify the column names, just like Trello.

Please refer to our updated API documentation for more detailed information.

What you need to do:

  • Contact us so we can delay enabling the Custom Columns feature for your organisation until you’re ready.
  • If you use status_id to identify the status of a task, you need to update your integration to use the status field. Please refer to our API docs for more information.
  • Contact us when you’ve updated your integration so we can enable the Custom Columns feature on your account.

What if I don’t update my integration?

We will need to upgrade all accounts, including yours, by 30th April. If you’re using status_id to identify a Task’s status, your integration will no longer work after this date.

Of course, if you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us on support@bugherd.com or comment below. We’re here to help in any way we can. :)
