Do you remember when we talked about learning nationalities for Academic Task 1? (Review here)
Here's another example of how this can be essential for the Listening Test.
Listen to this question taken from a Section 4 lecture about Asiatic Lions:
Also notice:
1. How difficult it is to hear "Greek coins" in fast speech, because the "k" and "c" merge into one sound - in normal speech this sounds like "Gree-koins" but the speaker here pronounces them very clearly as 2 separate words.
2. Greek coins came up in another listening! Check it out here.
3. The speaker has a South African accent - the subtitles pick up "lines" instead of "lions".
Academy Members - this listening is a NEW audio on Day 3 of the Vocabulary Course (I updated it)
