What's new on IELTS with Fiona

I keep getting this message when I accept a new connection on LinkedIn.

So I'm guessing it must be automated!

Unfortunately the grammar is wrong. Why?

When to say 'How have you been?'

1. When you already know the person you're writing to.

2. You haven't been in touch for a while.

3. You know (perhaps) that they've been through a (possibly traumatic) life event.

When to say 'How are you?'

Probably the same rules apply.

I never respond to these questions from someone I've never met before.
