Yesterday I was shocked and a little disappointed when I read a well-known IELTS influencer's new blog about 15 ways to improve your Task 2 Writing:
Obviously, it's not a good idea to spend 20 minutes on the introduction but it has a very important function, so I strongly disagree with teachers who say 'just paraphrase the question' and get the introduction 'out of the way'.

Of course, if the rest of the essay is outstanding, the introduction will matter less, but you SHOULD spend time and thought on your introduction.
