I came across the discussion clock in an old coursebook and I thought it was a genius idea to help you brainstorm ideas for IELTS Task 2.
My students call it a 'Thinking Tree'.
It encourages you to see a topic from different angles, all of which could be considered 'academic'.
Take, for example, the pros and cons of computers. You can look at this from several different angles/perspectives/points of view.
From an educational point of view, computers are great for allowing anyone to research and get access to information. On the other hand, the information is often unreliable, and the internet is a huge distraction for students.
I've made quite a few videos showing how to use this system:
Video 1 - Systems for getting ideas
Video 2 - How to use the EEEasy system
Video 3 - To what extent do you agree or disagree? (School Uniforms)
Video 4 - Whose responsibility is it to take children to school?
