How do you pronounce "farmer"?
If you pronounce the 'r' (1) then you have a 'rhotic' accent.
If you don't pronounce the 'r' (2) you have a 'non-rhotic' accent.
In the US, people normally pronounce the 'r' after a vowel,
The UK accent is technically 'non-rhotic' but some British accents pronounce the 'r' (e.g. Scottish) and you can hear this in a recent IELTS test.
This new lesson focuses on a Part 2 Listening where one of the speakers has a West Country accent (it's notoriously difficult to understand, so you'll hear the key features in the video).
Here's a quick extract (notice the strong "R" sound in 2 of the gapfill answers).
Also notice the importance of reference words ('them') in Question 9.
This extract is taken from my new accent analysis lesson in the Members Academy. It's included if you already bought the Listening Course (all courses are available for full members).
