"It's bound to happen" (Speaking Part 3)

We practised speculation and predictions about the future in our live Speaking class today and we looked at a range of expressions that you can use in Speaking Part 3 when the examiner asks you to speculate about the future.

Meaning

- certain or extremely likely to happen

If you say that something is bound to happen, you mean that you are sure it will happen, because it is a natural consequence of something that is already known or exists.

Examples

  • You're bound to feel nervous before the Speaking Test.
  • There are bound to be price increases next year.
  • "Ask Fiona - she's bound to know".
