What are complex directions?

Most coursebooks teach very BASIC directions - things you learn at Elementary Level e.g

• Prepositions of place (opposite, next to, in front of, behind etc)
• Prepositions of movement (go straight on, turn left, go past, go across etc)

But when you listen to real IELTS tests, you can see that the instructions are a lot more complex.

This is why many people get lost in the map sections.
