Prepositions: ‘explain TO’ vs ‘explain FOR’

Image #1

1. ”Explain to you”: This means giving an explanation directly to someone. It’s about communicating information so the person understands.

- Example: “I will explain the rules to you.”

2. “Explain for you”: This means explaining something on behalf of someone, usually because they need help or cannot do it themselves.

- Example: “I will explain the problem for you” (because maybe you don’t understand it, or you need help).

In short:

- “Explain to you” = I give you the explanation directly.

- “Explain for you” = I explain something to help you or on your behalf.
