I was shocked and saddened to see this old IELTS question show up in a test that one of my Members took in China this week!
I've researched all of the models online and decided to write a simple model that would demonstrate that
- you DON'T need any specialised language to get a high score (I deliberately avoided using words like 'chisel', 'blunt' and 'taper')
- you CAN use all the language of change and comparisons that you use perfectly when you do your 'normal' IELTS tasks (in blue)
- the linking words that you've so carefully mastered will still be essential in this task
