A member sent me this Task 1 today about 'the top 5 grossing films in 2021'.
How can you paraphrase the introduction?
The graph below shows the top 5 grossing films in both the United States and United Kingdom in the year 2021.
'(Top-) grossing' is an adjective which is used to describe a product or service, especially a film, that earns more money than any other, for example:
- 'Barbie' was the highest-grossing film in 2023.
- It grossed over $300 million. (verb, past tense).
- It was a top grosser. (noun)
To paraphrase the introduction to this Task 1, you could say
The graph gives information about the five films that earned the most revenue in the USA and the UK in 2021.
