What's new on IELTS with Fiona

Today's a good day to review adverbs. Which Band are you at the moment do you think?

You can pick up some easy marks just by learning just a few limited and fixed collocations e.g.

• increased- slowly, gradually, steadily, suddenly, sharply etc.

Don't try anything adventurous - here are some I corrected this week:

• increased - closely*, highly*, softly*

Don't mix up collocations that don't make sense e.g

• plummeted slowly*, plunged slightly*

Most common mistake?

• There was a huge soar*.
