It's really important to read news reports to become more familiar with how they describe data and statistics (so you can avoid using inappropriate words like 'elucidate').

I was reading this article about people crossing the English Channel:

What's the difference between 'treble' and 'triple'?

Nothing really, except that 'treble' is hardly ever used in the US.

Notice also the reference word "that of" to avoid repeating 'The number of people who crossed'.

In the Members Academy Task 1 Bootcamp, we've been practising all of these structures to improve our Task 1 score e.g.

• Three times as many people crossed last year compared with 2020.
• There were three times as many crossings last year in comparison with the previous year.
• The number of people who crossed the channel has tripled.
• There has been a threefold increase in the number of people crossing the Channel.
