Add an option to have the bots roleplay immersively in the 1st person pov. They only control their own actions & do not decide the user character's actions.

In fact you can make the AI do certain things by starting with "AI:" I additionally add brackets to it: (AI: please stay in role of xxx and do not decide for me)
