Latest Update: From the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) regarding the replacement of the CWA system

We’re pleased to announce that we have completed the updates to Unity® Practice Management to support the new LAA Fee Codes and XML export requirements — ahead of the official go-live date of 10 November.

What this means for you:

  • Our XML submission format now includes the new Fee Codes, ensuring full compatibility with the upcoming CWA system.
  • As we’re ahead of schedule, you can start reviewing your claim exports now to familiarise yourself with the updated format and any discrepancies in Claims/Data.
  • We recommend checking a few sample exports before 10 November to confirm everything appears as expected. If you spot anything unusual, please get in touch — our support team will be happy to help ensure you are ready for submissions on the go-live date.
  • Please note if you are a criminal practice with a claim containing a stage reached code of 'PROV', 'PRIB','PRIC','PRID','PRIE','PROJ' - Then you may need to recreate these claims if the higher fee cannot be determined. As always our support team will be on hand to assist you.

We remain in close contact with the LAA and Ministry of Justice and will continue to share any further updates or guidance as the launch date approaches.

Important Update: From the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) regarding the replacement of the CWA system

You may have seen the recent update from the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) regarding the replacement of the CWA system and the introduction of a new billing service (covering crime lower, civil controlled, legal help, and mediation).

We want to reassure you that we are in close contact with the LAA and Ministry of Justice, and are actively working with them to ensure the transition to the new system is as smooth as possible for you.

Key points you should be aware of:

  • The LAA is introducing new fee codes which will need to be included in claims. We are already working with them to integrate these changes into our software.
  • The new system will only accept claims via bulk upload spreadsheets or case management exports. We are making the necessary adjustments to our XML export to ensure your software remains fully compliant.
  • We are receiving regular updates and guidance directly from the LAA/MOJ, and we are part of their ongoing conversations to make sure you are supported.

What this means for you right now:

  • There is no action required from you at this stage.
  • You can be confident that we are preparing Unity PM for the upcoming changes.
  • We will keep you updated with clear next steps, guidance, and training well ahead of the new system launch.

We appreciate your patience while the LAA completes testing of the new service. Our priority is to ensure that when the system goes live, you are able to continue submitting claims easily and without disruption. If you have any questions, please contact us at: support-cms-uk-u@dyedurham.com
