🚩 This is your weekly reminder to be careful with lists of synonyms, even if they come from a 'reliable' source!
People love posting 'lists of synonyms' because they know that students are looking for 'less common' words to impress the examiner.
But a lot of these lists are rubbish - don't be tricked by them.
It's very easy to google synonyms in order to appear to be helpful.
But do people really use all of these words?
It would be more helpful to post lists of words that people actually use (but the list would be smaller, and not as popular as the long list!).
In my opinion (with some evidence in the links and image):
1. 'Scrumptious' is used by a certain class of people of a certain age and era (see 'Truly Scrumptious' image below from a 1960s film about the olden days)
2. 'Delectable' - see 'scrumptious'.
3. 'Super' is a very American equivalent of 'very' or 'really' (sorry, no offence my US friends). See how 'super irritating' this word is.
4. 'Yummy' is used mostly by children, or parents talking down to their children. Or adults being ironic. Or adults from a certain era.
5. 'Nom' - a truly awful word. I can't believe BBC Learning English is recommending this word.

The best words to use are 'tasty' and 'delicious'.
