It would be helpful to have a comment box on merging customer listings.
If there is a anomoly between records i.e phone number/postal address, and we need to contact the customer to clarify before merging, it would be very handy to be able to put a note with the details if you aren't able to resolve immediately.
As we work independently in our box office, colleagues would then be able to see if I'd tried to phone them and awaiting call back from customer or not successful in reaching. Also if the records are not to be merged, we could leave a note as to why

Thanks so much for taking the time to share this.
We've reviewed this, and although we can see how comments would be useful here, it might get quite busy: it would mean adding another column to this area, and you'd then need to click into each record to see the full comment, and so it's not something we are planning on developing at the moment.
As an alternative, tags might work well for what you're after. Tags already show in the merge customer view, so you could use something like a 'dontmerge' tag on customers who are in this in-between state. That way, if a colleague searches them intending to merge, they'd see the tag straight away. You could use the same approach to flag records you've tried to call about, or ones that shouldn't be merged.
Support can help if you'd like a hand setting tags up.
That said, I'll keep this post here, and if it gains more traction we can look at revisiting.
